I have a question from an adoptive mother to be about possible interactions
between a couple of drugs she is currently taking and some herbs she is
planning to take to aid in inducing lactation. I told her that I suspected
that the information is not available but if anyone has come across this
situation before I would appreciate your experience.
The mum is taking citalopram for depression and oroxien for hypothyroid. She
is planning to take tinctures of Blessed thistle, fenugreek and Goats Rue.
Any ideas/experience? I suggested to her that it might be a good idea to
start off on the herbs slowly to allow for noticing any
diminishment/enhancement of the affect of the drugs but that's all the help
I could give her. Her HCPs did not have any information for her.
