Does anyone on the list know the history of Erato Records? I really only
learnt of the label's demise with all the recent talk of Ton Koopman's
Bach Cantata cycle. It is so sad to know that such a fine label with a
long history can be wiped out in the wink of an executive's pen in Los
Angeles.

Nonesuch was started by Jac Holzman I know, but who started Erato? I
would love to know the history behind this label.
