It is well and good that the US House has just voted to increase the
*annual* budget of the National Endowment for Arts by $10 million, but
the hard-fought accomplishment also sheds new light on the priorities
of a country, which is spending more than that amount in *one day* in
the "mop-up operations" in Iraq.
