Oh, That poor mom!
Here are some ideas: culture the wounds to see what exactly is there. It may
be a combination infection bacterial and yeast. She may need systemic
medications so I would definitely culture it. Gentle soap and warm water
cleansing can be helpful in healing the wounds too. Is baby still on
medication of any kind? could mother be allergic to any of the components of
the baby's or her meds.
Herpes usually presents as exquisitely painful blisters like vesicles. They
do later often form craters and then heal. This could be checked by viral
culture so do that as well as bacteria and yeast cultures. don't know if RSV
can invade a wound. Extra vitamin C for mom and rest too can help the
healing process. Does baby have any new teeth that are abrading?
