When I came to the USA I had heard so much about formula sample bags I
wondered what horrors I would discover on my first day in postpartum.
Where I work every mother gets a small padded insulated bag containing
sanitary pads, disposable stretch netting underwear, and a squirt bottle for
perineal hygiene. The bag has the hospital logo on the outside and
curiously almost exactly matched the colour of the scrubs the nurses wear
(thank goodness I look good in teal is all I can say).
I'm always careful to point out that the bag is insulated, and therefore
useful for transporting cold drinks for mum, or EBM if she is leaving the
baby with someone ;)
