I have permission from a mom to ask for your help with this situation. Her 4 month old baby was on several antibiotics for a viral resp. infection. As a result, he developed C.Dif. The diarrhea has been horrible. Mom was exclusively BF but because the baby was in such distress after feeding, she stopped BF and is giving Alimentum. He has been better for the last 2 weeks. She began BF today but got the same result, gas, fussy, pulling away and diarrhea. Pumped milk was no different. She understands the gut was extremely compromised and needs to heal. What can she do besides pump to maintain supply and get this baby back to breast? Thanks for your help.

Laura Walker, RNC, IBCLC
