I just recently had to deal with the same situation at my peds office.  I
was nursing my 5 month old daughter and she was practically asleep in my
arms when they finally arrived to do the shots (took about 20 minutes from
the time I had last seen the dr UGH!) anyway she instructed me to
literly 'pin' her down onto the table.  I said that I prefered to hold he
while getting her shots - the nurse (?) replied that she was showing me how
to hold her.  I quickly said that it was my intention to hold her IN MY
ARMS and nurse - and she about had a fit! By this time I was so frustrated
with the visit (the dr. looked at me like he had no idea of what I was
talking when I mentioned LLL) that I was adament to stand my groud.  After
going back and forth she still 'refused' and called her supervisor in - who
also tried to 'make' me restrain my baby on the table.  I once again
declined and said that if it were going to be an issue that I simply would
go home without getting the shots that day.  The nurse finally agreed - yet
still 'aggressivily' grabbed by daughters leg to administer the shots.
Needless to say I have already switched pratices - and this was my third to
begin with - all dropped because there lack of support for breastfeeding
UGH!!!!
