Yes, Rubato is an italian term applied to a style of performance in which
some tones are held longer than their legitimate time, while others are
proportionally curtailed.

Ad libitum - well indeed - a latin phrase, from where the English language
takes ad lib, to do something 'off the cuff' - to 'make it up' - to
perform without preperation .....
