>>Though unusual, there have been case histories published with =
allergy to rice. <<

My eldest son had croup as an infant, runny noses all the time, eczema,
and then asthma from his toddler years on. He was also ADHD. We had him
allergy tested and came up with mild dairy allergy, plus some airborne
and pet stuff. For the adhd, I tried the strict elimination diet that
started with rice products, meats, and some vegetables then slowly adds
back other foods. Neither that nor eliminating sugars made any
difference, so I eventually gave up, only limiting Chris's cow's milk
intake.

Chris is now almost 20, and a couple of years ago started saying that he
didn't like rice. I thought that he was just being a persnickety
teenager refusing to eat something we'd always eaten, until he explained
to me that his throat swells up when he eats rice. I cringe to think of
how much rice I've fed him over the years; I never dreamed he or anyone
could be allergic to it.
