My husband was reading a book about late 19th & early 20th century tycoons.
He showed me that John Jacob Astor hired several wet nurses in his later
years to express bm for him as his only means of food, since his body was
racked with disease. He did this because it was the only thing he could
digest, probably not knowing that it might have been helping to prolong his
life a little as well. I'm sure there are several more historical stories
out there like that.

I don't think the notion of using EBM in sick adults is a new one, just a
new one to be studied scientifically and quantitatively. I use my own EBM
for our eldest boy when he gets sick, and surely would use it myself (from
others or myself) in complement with other therapies if I got very
(hospitalized) ill. I feel that if it's good enough for a baby with very
little immunities or defense, it must be good for someone who's ill.

<<The Swedish study is very interesting and compelling--unfortunately, I
have not been able to get much of an update on the use of breastmilk to kill
cancer cells, and do not know what the mechanism would be for administering
treatment.>>
