i would say that if a high fever is present that this reflects systemic
involvement and not just a local inflammatory response, so i would say that
this sign indicates infection. i think one could also argue though that some
chemicals (like histamine-types?) are released when there is large
inflammatory processes, and this could cause the fever. So then maybe there
could be no infection???? i still would think treatment for infection would
need to be administered. Bacterial or viral i don't know. is the cat
lactating?
