Dear Histarchers,

On the weekend 7/8 January the developers of No 10 The Park have agreed to
allow visitors to view the 1860 remains of Thomas May's cottage now that
the 1935 elements have been carefully removed. The basement and some of the
ground level brick walls have survived. Apart from the ceiling and flooring
joists almost none of the 1860 timbers survive. All visitors are welcome
and may photograph and record if they wish. Visitors must show themselves
around the remains of the cottage although I will be present to answer any
questions.

Entrance from No 10 The Park (Parramatta Park running from ruined Great
Western Highway gate house near the High School) is recommended, although
access may also be gained from 13-21 Good Street, Westmead. Recommended
visiting hours are from 10am to 3.30pm. My apologies to those in the list
who obviously live too far away to visit, I promise not to make a habit of
distributing local news like this again.

Kind Regards and Best Wishes for 2002, Robert
