Ron Chaplin asks:

>How about the Los Angeles String Quartet's recording of the complete string
>quartets? Has anyone waded into this set?

My interest heightened by all this Haydn talk, and some well deserved
lecture honoraria asking to be spent, yes- I purchased this set, hoping
to be the first on the block, but, knowing this bunch, strongly doubting
it. I have as yet barely got the soles of my feet wet, but early
indications on the opus 71s are excellent. Tonight is opus 20, number 1
night. Incidentally, there is an opus zero, which represents something
which surfaced in the nineteen thirties.
