I, too, suspect this might be a case of a sick or teething child or
perhaps a normal pattern for that specific child. The reason I raised
the questions about whether anything else had been ruled out was my
frustration that the first thing blamed is the breastfeeding. Too often
the first solution is "change, eliminate, cut down on the
breastfeeding" without even considering other reasons for the problems.
I wonder how often that leads to delays in identifying and dealing with
other, sometimes serious, conditions.
It was interesting that the mother was reported to be quite slim. Two
thoughts come to mind-this may be baby's normal body type, or is there
any chance mom is anorexic and baby is getting subtle messages leading
to his being concerned about eating.
