Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas and tips on the toddler meeting.

It went off well, we were quite happy to just let off steam about
everyone around telling us we were nursing too long, or giving us grief
in any old way. I had to take my hat off to one girl there, who has
been nursing for 9 months, who LOVES nursing, who is about to go back to
work and feels she "has to" wean (but doesn't want to), whose husband
has been against her nursing from day one. Every single step of the
way, every time *something* went wrong, he suggested weaning, formula,
bottles. She has stuck it out 9 months despite him, and wants to
continue, though she is not sure how much longer she'll be able to.

And this husband of hers is the brother of a girl who nursed her babies
(19 months was the longest) and another girl who is presently nursing a
9 month old (a first baby). :-(

In the end, the other ressource person with me came up with what we felt
was a suitable introduction question, which was to mention one reason
why we continued nursing. A lot of the moms said it was because they
consider themself lazy. ;-)

To end it all, I had an interesting story to tell of my own...that
afternoon I had been in a store trying on bras of all things when the
other ressource person called me to touch base. When we were done
talking in the dressing room and I had finnished trying on bras, I took
my ones to the counter to purchase. Not to go into glimmers into my
wardrobe in every way, I should mention that since my daughter was 4
months old I do no longer wear nursing bras (I hated them anyhow) and
just wear regular stretchy bras that I pull out of the way. I had found
a nice lacy purple one. I am only mentioning this because it was not
obvious to the casheir that they would be used by a nursing mom. ;-)
We arrived at the casheir and Sandrine, my daughter, said to her
"Bah-dah, bwah!" (Madame, bra!). The cashier said to her "yes dear, but
you're too young for that, they're not for you!". I suppressed big urge
to tell her "oh yes they are too for her!" but instead contented myself
with saying "oh, well *she* thinks they're for her!". But it was a
classic in the making...

Thanks again,

Fio.
