In 1957, I bought a pair of Sheffield scissors at a local
drugstore for around $8. On one side is "Made by Richards of
Sheffield England" The other side has "'Speedway' Masterpiece
Rustless Chrome." They're an exceptionally good pair of scissors!
I've used them a lot but tried to use cheap scissors instead of
this pair, for things that would be an abuse to them. Unknown to
me, my husband used them to cut wide adhesive tape for a while and
got them sticky. After I told my husband that was a no-no (in no
uncertain terms), I took them to a cutlery store to be cleaned and
sharpened. The store employees absolutely raved about them and we
had quite a discussion about Sheffield scissors!
