I suppose, with all due respect, do you really want George Szell conducting
Mahler's Ninth? And yes I do have it, along with all of the other "vanity
press" (no disrespect intended) issues of the (so-called at one time) "top
five" North American Orchestras, multi-disc sets all. There are really
a lot of great performances amongst those that they (the "top five") have
chosen to issue. Boston (new kid on the block), Chicago (over-all probably
the greatest number of discs), Cleveland (two issues...one + one..Szell
alone being the second one), New York (four issues that I have...and
counting!) and Philadelphia. And to satisify the manadate of the "subject
heading...Costly Orchestra CDs, they all are "Costly" and for the most
part, worth every penny, and to help as well, a good cause!
