The joint "Gold Medalists" in this event are, in alphabetical order, Curzon
& Serkin. The "Bronze Medalist" is Schnabel. All with Szell as conductor.

While I'm about making arbitrary declarations of my own, I take this
opportunity to nominate Burt Bacharach as one of the top 100, 000 composers
of all time.  I hope that this will not excite too much controversy.
