Barry Seldes was asking about the role of Richard LeBlond, the late SF
Ballet president, in the development of the company. My recollection is
that as a fund-raiser and administrator, he did a great deal of good.

Considering the nature of this list, I think ballet in the first place and
then the matter of running such a company may be "off-topic," [It's not.
-Dave] so let me try to bring it on-track again by mentioning the pivotal
importance of the late Denis deCoteau, the company's music director for
over two decades, in the history and growth of the SF Ballet.

I think Denis - a warm, supportive presence on and off the the conductor's
podium, with a wonderful sense of humor - never received his due for what
he did for the Ballet, for the Oakland Youth Symphony, for hundreds of
students and young colleagues he had helped along.

Am I the only one who remembers him?
