On Musicweb we have now put up 60 reviews with sound samples. These can be
recognized by the special buy button. An example is

http://www.musicweb.uk.net/classrev/2002/Mar02/Gragnari.htm

I would like to hear what your experiences are in using this.

It is not totally straightforward because the sound samples are actually on
our sister site LudwigVanWeb.com. Clicking on the button on the MusicWeb
review takes you to the relevant page on that site. You can then either
read the whole booklet on-line or click on review where the links to the
sound samples are on the top right hand side of the page.

You only have to read some of the reviews to discover that MusicWeb
reviewers are maintaining a fully independent stance in reviewing discs
from our sister site!

The licensing agreement with the individual labels allows us three
free sound excerpts. Reviewers can decide where these start but cannot
determine the switch off time because the sound samples are always 15% of
the track length. So for a Neapolitan song you would not hear much but
would get a fair slice of Sibelius 7 should that ever become available.

The system used is QuickTime which is vastly better than real audio.
There is a download link on the musicweb review should you not have that
installed. it is free and worth it.

Finally you can download selected tracks form a disc or the entire disc but
you need to pay for that.

We have thousands of discs lined up for review and transcoding and are
signing up new labels all the time. The Supraphon and Bis back catalogues
will appear fairly soon we hope.

I would be obliged if you could forward your mail to [log in to unmask]
