If you are interested in cataloguing your Classical Music collection or
if you have an interest in the history of Western Music, you will find
ClassicLog a very useful and informative product.

   http://www.ozemail.com.au/~gjlkelly/

ClassicLog is an easy-to-use but very sophisticated database for Classical
Music. You can instantly find a CD or other recording in you collection
and all its tracks displayed in order with all the performance details. Or
you can instantly view every piece in your collection by a certain composer
or performer or in a certain key or from a certain period - or using many
other criteria or any combination of them. Find every instance in your
collection of an opera aria or any other piece of music (there are more
than 6000 already entered), all lists will be displayed with full details
about performance and position on the shelf. Go straight to the shelf to
make comparisons! It's that easy and that sophisticated. With one click,
there is also provision to store information about producers, sound
engineers and venues, and technical details, if you wish.

Entry in ClassicLog is highly automated. Type an opus number and
ClassicLog will instantly display the name of the work. Type Tc in the
composer field and it knows you mean Tchaikovsky, or choose the name from
drop-down lists. All entry is streamlined in this way so that you can
enter a new CD in a couple of minutes. There is nothing limiting about
this, however, as all of the controlling information can be added to with
one mouse click. There is already so much information in ClassicLog that
this will not often be necessary!

But beyond all of that, ClassicLog contains biographies and dates for
almost a 1,000 composers and many hundreds of performers: singers,
soloists, conductors, and orchestras. All of the main events of Western
Music are also there and related to the lives of the composers. All of
this in turn is automatically related to your collection. All of this
material can be added to or edited by you.

ClassicLog has hundreds of quality links to the Internet for more
information. You can store photos (of composers, performers, recordings
and orchestras), audio and video clips, and reviews from the Internet or
from scanned sources or ones you type in yourself.

There is much statistical information available on your collection
which is automatically collated from a simple entry on one form. With a
single click, you can find out how much you have spent on your collection
in total, by month, and by year; from various shops or sources or from
particular Labels. Find out how many items in you collection are performed
by a particular soloist or group. There is also much statistical
information about composers already entered. Find out which and how
many composers were born in which counties, how many worked in particular
cities. Finding out which composers were born on a particular date is
simple. With the power of MS Access, it is very fast and easy to find out
such information as how many composers committed suicide, for instance,
because searches, even through lengthy biographies are lightning fast.

ClassicLog stores data separate from the program so that future upgrades
are very simple and can be accomplished without disturbing what you have
already entered.

ClassicLog uses the power of MS Access to manage files and even if you do
not own Access, you will not regret investing in it even if it is solely
to run ClassicLog This will also give you the assurance that your database
will always be able to be upgraded, without loss of data. Minimum
requirements are: Windows 95 or 98 and MS-Access for Office 95, or (for
all features) MS-Access for Office 97. (The Office 95 version is cheaper
but does not have all of the features of the Office 97 version).

I invite you to look at the free demo and compare it to any other
database for Classical Music available. I am confident that you will
agree that ClassicLog is without peer.  The very modest price is: US $50;
UK 30; AUS $80; DM80. You may pay in any of these currencies, whichever
is most favourable to your exchange rate. Postage is charged at the lowest
possible air mail rate, information is available at the Internet site or
you may e-mail to order. ClassicLog comes with a very detailed manual both
in paper and electronic forms. Electronic delivery is free and, of course,
very fast.
