From the New York Times 27Oct01:

"In a seismic occurrence in the classical musical world, James Levine,
the longtime artistic director of the Metropolitan Opera and one of
the world's most celebrated conductors, has accepted the post of
music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, succeeding Seiji
Ozawa, people close to the agreement said last night. He will keep
   his position at the Met."
