SPRING ISSUE
The Spring 2002 issue of "Archaeology & Public Education" has now been
posted. You can view it at http://www.saa.org/PubEdu/a&pe/index.html .

"Archaeology & Public Education" is an electronic newsletter published by
the Society for American Archaeology, Public Education Committee. It is
targeted to elementary and secondary teachers, interpreters,
archaeologists, and other educators who bring information about archaeology
to children or the general public.

Featured in the spring issue is news on teachers' workshops in Arizona,
Arkansas, and Colorado; field opportunities in New Hampshire, Texas, and
Belize; and highlighted web sites on rock art and a downloadable Vermont
teachers' guide, among other items.

Links to public information web sites on archaeology have been added for
the following states: Missouri, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and West
Virginia.

"Archaeology & Public Education" is posted four times a year in March,
June, September, and December.

SUMMER ISSUE
The Summer issue will post in the first week of June. Deadline for
submissions will be May 17. When submitting a news item, please refer to
the current issue for the style and size of news items desired. News items
can cover field work opportunities, workshops, exhibits, special events,
new books, Archaeology Weeks/Months, etc. All items should be of interest
to teachers and other archaeology educators.

Links to web sites featuring archaeological information for the general
public--or specifically for teachers or students--are still needed for the
following states: Alabama, Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho,
Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana,
Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina,
Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah,
Virginia, and Wyoming.

Anyone working in those states may submit suggested web sites. A half-dozen
key web sites are all that are needed for a sufficient listing.

Thank you.
