The 1890 Census was destroyed too, though I dont know how.

Destruction of records has been a problem for years. I am working on U.S.
Army Fort Rosecrans. Most of those records were sent to the U.S. National
Archives, where they separated it all into 2 piles. One pile was "junk" and
the other was to be preserved; someone got the message wrong and destroyed
the good stuff. This happened again just a couple years ago with the U.S.
Navy Arctic Research lab. Damn!!!
