I have a friend who weaned her first ds at 12 mos and then nursed him again for about 6 mos (tandem nursed him with his younger brother) when he was 4, I believe, and the younger one about a year. I can't really remember how he learned to nurse; I think he just seemed to get it from watching the baby. He had been asking and at first she thought he couldn't nurse and was surprised that he could. He only nursed a couple of times per day and now, at 11, he has the gift she gave him of remembering nursing.
