Pamela,
 You raise some interesting issues regarding bf and rights. Last year
I wrote a monograph on this subject for World Breastfeeding Week using
several UN documents of human rights as the basis of the discussion.
These UN doucments try to lay out what are basic human rights (in many
areas, not just maternal child/family) independent of culture (i.e.
they are universal human rights). They are of course implemented in
the context of culture and economic realities.
