Pianist Jeffrey Biegel in Concert Webcast - Live from the Firebird
Restaurant on WQXR-FM New York

New York, NY - The American pianist Jeffrey Biegel will be heard in
"Russian Nights" - a live performance from New York's renowned FireBird
Restaurant on Tuesday, June 5, at 8 PM, EST on WQXR-FM New York.  This
will also be webcast at http://www.wqxr.com/cgi-bin/iowa/.

Mr. Biegel will perform Rachmaninoff Prelude in B-flat Major and the
Prelude in E minor by Cesar Cui.

"Russian Nights" is hosted by David Dubal ("Reflections from the
Keyboard").  This four-week series (June 5, 12, 19 and 26) features
pianists including Jeffrey Biegel (who will also perform in the June 12
program), Mordecai Shehori, William Wolfram and Dubal himself, as well as
a few of the finest young pianists from The Juilliard School and Manhattan
School.  Music from the golden age of Russian pianism:  Tchaikovsky,
Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Arensky, Scriabin, and Anton Rubinstein, the
founder of Russian pianism, will be performed, along with Shostakovich and
Prokofiev, among others.  "Mr.  Dubal will offer brief commentaries on the
works and chat with the pianists in the course of the program.

Jeffrey Biegel presented the first American Internet cybercast piano
recital in July 1997 from New York's Steinway Hall and the first European
Internet cybercast piano recital in September 1997 from Amsterdam.
September 2000 brought the World Premiere of Pulitzer Prize Winner Ellen
Taaffe Zwilich's Millennium Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra, which was
commissioned by Jeffrey Biegel and 26 orchestras across the U.S.  He has
given orchestral performances and solo recitals throughout the U.S.,
Europe, Central America, Scandinavia, Asia and the Middle East.  He has
performed the reconstructed Rhapsody in Blue with Boston Pops, St.  Louis,
Symphony and many others, including the Western European Premiere of
Rhapsody in Blue with Bochum Symphoniker in January 1999.  His recordings
include CDs on Marco Polo and Aleph Records.  He performs exclusively on
