I would also recommend, in addition to the piano works suggested by others,
the recent release on Naxos of the complete chamber works by Alkan.  He
wrote only three, for piano, violin and cello.  These are exquisite works,
beautifully played by the Trio Alkan, which consists of Rainer Klaas,
piano; Kolja Lessing, violin and Bernard Schwartz, cello.
