What are the references for the article? Anything near researched??? Or
just based on the reporter's experimental pool of one subject?

To counter this idea, what about snippets from the latest research that
mixing breast and bottle is THE most dangerous feeding method for HIV+
mothers (Coutsoudis et al 1999, 2000, 2001); we believe that the artificial
food damages the gut, allowing entrance of the HIV. Follow up with "Just
One Bottle" => damage can be caused even to healthy babies by unnecessary
introduction of other milks. Do you have any information on how cow's milk
causes tiny bleeds, leading to anaemia? Etc etc off the top of my head.

Trouble is, we don't know what's "fresh" with your readers, and it wasn't
clear from your mail where your newsletter is directed. That information is
bound to be new to most mothers; maybe HCP's have seen it before? Bears
repeating, as it seems *so important* that EARLY breastfeeding be exclusive.
Where possible - I'm not talking about cases where the baby is not able to
have breast milk for one reason or another.

As to defensiveness - bound to happen anyway. I guess you can only continue
to put your point across calmly, while thanking people for their interest,
and "for the chance to emphasise an important issue which confuses many
people". Who gets to stick things on the noticeboard? (maybe it should just
come through one coordinator).

Good luck!
