I know that Gottschalk was born in America (Louisiana I think), he was
denied acceptance into the Paris(am I right?) conservatory, but he was a
brilliant pianist and his playing was compared to that of Lizst's technical
brilliance. Now, when I hear of someone's piano playing being compared to
Lizst, I automatically assume that he was one the greatest pianist of his
time!
