About 20 years ago, Richard Gadler of the County of San Diego (now retired)
informed me he hiked up Arroyo Guadalupe, Baja California in 1960 and found a
small wooden door soundly sealed at an angle into a hillside. He pulled it
open and found a dug-out totally concealed except for the door. Inside, he
found a wide table with legs cut short, chairs too. On the table were plates,
cups and utinsels uncleaned and coated with dust. Bottles and supplies lay
back in the dugout. He did not have a flashlight and felt he was trespassing,
so closed the door. He never went back, as the rugged granite mountains of
Guadelupe are for younger people.
