I have to put a little plug in for Pat Martin's field school at MTU:
took it in '95 as a visiting student from Canada, probably the most
useful thing I've done in my histarch/industarch career besides grad.
school itself.  And nothing like the UP (Upper Peninsula) of Mich. in
summer (also nothing like it in winter, so I've heard, if you like
snow).
