Well here's the good news...after 8+ weeks, we managed to get the baby with
the chronically dislocating clavicle to go back to the breast. I was
beginning to doubt my faith in "the process". Just when I was about to run
out of tricks, the baby decided she was ready and that her pain level was
manageable. Thank you to everyone who responded and of course to Jack who
repeatedly emailed me to say "keep encouraging the mom--the baby WILL
breastfeed." The mom was in tears with joy and the baby was clearly
satiated in the most positive way. I have to say that the chiropractor
also never lost faith that this baby would nurse (which made me, the mom and
the chiropractor as the only ones who knew it would happen).
As luck would have it, I attended a Christmas party a few days later where
the baby's FP doc was also attending. She admitted that she thought the
baby would never go to the breast. Score one for breastfeeding faith (that
goes with Bf evangelism).
Happy Holidays!
Chris
p.s. I'm still nomail if anyone is trying to reach me.
