I forgot the best part! The midwife recently delivered a mom (baby #3) who
has been nursing a 3 yr old through her pregnancy. Apparently baby was big
(9lbs+) and the labor long and difficult. The midwife is speculating that
nursing during pregnancy may overstimulate and wear out the uterus, or
somehow otherwise reduce the response of the uterus to oxytocin because of
the stimulation from nursing.

This and her belief that newborns get shortchanged too frequently seems to
be firming up her position against tandem nursing.
