laura, you've done a nice job of putting things plainly, and heck, how could
i ever be unhappy with someone who shares my daughter's name, and this topic
comes up periodically on LN - but, the fact is, presenting the job of "lc" as
one that is better satisfied by a "nurse LC" misrepresents the profession and
set up a false dichotomy in the minds of those in the rest of the medical
profession. the other things you mention, phone calls and referrals, etc.,
could be handled by a clerk with no knowledge of breastfeeding. and, if you
see someone and order tests, etc., then what is the input of the HCP of the
dyad? do they get the info after these other various things are done? or, who
orders tests, etc.?

or, as america's finest writer, f. scott fitzgerald, put it: "life is much
more successfully looked at from a single window, after all."
