I have no problem with saying that breastfeeding can be done discreetly in
most cases. I give advice on that issue frequently. I have no problem
with a woman who wants to nurse discreetly herself. What I have a problem
with is saying that other people have a right not to see a woman who by
preference or by necessity does not nurse discreetly. There is no such
right, and I can nurse my toddler (who makes discreet nursing difficult if
not impossible) in public without harrassment only because other women who
came before me just did it regardless of who they might offend. If they
were to have simply waited until they received society's blessing, we
would still be waiting.
