I'm getting this out of BREASTFEEDING AND HUMAN LACTATION, 1993 edition (My
new one is at the office). On Pg 546 it states:" A hospital with 3,000
deliveries each year should have at least three full-time LC positions in
order to avoid burnout and get the job done. I'm skipping a bit, but then it
went on to say: Most hospital lactation programs, based on the 1:1000 ratio,
are woefully understaffed and only provide part-time service as a result of
partial shift coverage or coverage for less than seven days a week." Hope it
helps, Sue
