FWIW: I use "sub-clinical" to describe not something that is without
symptoms, but a phenomena that does not seem to have strong enough symptoms
to warrant a full diagnosis. Thus, a tongue with a light white coat on the
posterior portion might be what I would call "subclinical thrush", because
it isn't dramatic or obviousness enough for a diagnosis by most clinicians.
It might be or it might not be thrush at that point- only a trial treatment
will tell for sure.

Terminology is tough-- is there a better term for what I've described above?
