One thing about Robert J.; he got a response from people.  I have missed
his early morning programming since moving from Boston.

One day in graduate school I was up early, and had forgot to turn off the
radio the night before.  Suddenly I was aware of beautiful bird sounds, and
was glad to be living in suburban Boston.  It went on for some minutes and
was quite pleasant.  All of a sudden there was that voice, "This is Robert
J. Lurtsema."

I regret his passing.
