Just got a call from a mother who is breastfeeding her 9mo. Baby was
premature but still weighed 6lbs in weight, is petite at 15lb 3 oz but
thriving in every way except that the mother has noticed some fine
blonde pubic hair and budding breasts. The baby also has an extra flap
of skin on her perineum. She noticed this about a month ago.

Of course the GP is blaming an excess of estrogen caused by
breastfeeding (eh!) but has referred mum and baby on to a paed. But I
wondered what you all thought.

The GP has ruled out precocious puberty, but offers not other
explanation other than it isn't normal and is caused by breastfeeding.

I have permission to post.
