Dear Friends:
The Maryland WIC program has put out two videos targeted to this
population; one is the Anita Baker film, and the other has been or will be
soon reviewed in JHL.
I find it frustrating that someone has a bright idea ( a video for a
certain population) and doesn't check out the resources. An example is the
person in the Washington Post article just cited here on LACTNET, who wants
to make a new video.
There are breastfeeding videos for the deaf, that are signed and
captioned. There are videos in about 30 languages. There are videos aimed for
Native American peoples. There are videos that are strictly promotional.
There are teaching videos. There are videos about breastfeeding problems.
There are videos targeted to health care professionals. There are videos
targeted to teens. There are videos in all formats. There are videos about
sleep, parenting, childbirth, and massage. There are already many, many
videos out there. And there is one for you and your population.
Please, check in JHL and see how much there is. I just sent in 12 (one
dozen) reviews of new videos, and more are coming.
This has turned into a bit of a rant, hasn't it?
