Anne:  Have you done a thorough history of this mom before pregnancy and
during?  It most certainly is possible to have yeast upon delivery.  Many
women suffer vaginal yeast overgrowth throughout their pregnancies because
of increases in blood sugar and estrogen.  Use the questionnaire in the
Lact. consultant series #18 to help evaluate her risk profile.    She may be
one of those who took antibiotics for years for acne or was on
corticosteroids during pregnancy.
