Somebody told me once that there was an old custom (almost a ritual), still
in use about 40 years ago, in some italian theatres: a few moments before
the beginning of the concert, when the players and the conductor were at
his places, an employee used to come into the stage and then he retired the
conductor's score, surrounded by the applause of the public.  Is it true?,
does anyone in the list knows (or remember) something about this?.
