Hi, speaking of the Enigma and Planets.  I have a CD containing both
works conducted by the composers themselves.  Of course it is in mono, and
leaves a lot to be desired.  But the music comes through just the way the
composers wanted it to.  Sir Adrian was the choice of Holst and indeed
Elgar.  He had that empathic link with both composers which insured his
interpretation to be top notch.  I always enjoyed Sir Adrian's concerts
when I was younger.  His conducting always fascinated me, because it was
hard to witness any movement of his hands during a concert, but his
thoughts on the music were transferred to the orchestra, because they
always gave outstanding performances for him.
