Ignore my last post-- I finally fell into the famed email trap. Believe it
or not I thought I was writing to my mom!

Subject: Fwd:Fw: A Montana site Worth saving

I hope some of you may be able to advise this person on strategies for
protecting the site he is interested in. Please do not respond to me --
respond
directly to Mr. Clark at his e-mail address below. Thanks.

Please help me contact any society or group of people that may be
interested
in saving an important prehistory lithic site in Montana. The site is near
Phillipsburg MT (Flint creek drainage) where native Americans gathered flint
like chert for making stone points and later for making flints for flintlock
weapons. It is known as "the eyebrow or devils eyebrow" by the locals. I
believe the site to be on private land but a section of BLM land is near by.
(possible land trade) Holes have been dug to obtain the chert and lithic
scatter
is found from 1/4 to 1/2 a mile from the main outcropping of chert, flakes
and
worked stone lay on the surface everywhere. No doubt archeologist know of the
site, however I believe it is a very unique and picturesque area certainly
as
important as any bison jump (where all the bones were mined for fertilizer).
Please feel free to forward my message to others you feel might be
interested. I
live in Idaho, an avid flintknapper and enjoy attending Past Port in Time
projects and visiting both historical and pre-history sites and activities.
