The railroad tie dating nails from the Ferry Tender Site at Silcott,
Washington matched the artifact dates rather well. The site was next to
the railroad. Clearly those nails were entering the archaeological
context contemporaneously, but through what mechanism is unknown. Did the
site occupant scavenge these nails and reuse them? Did he work on the
railroad?
