A deeper look into the inventories suggests that although "looking glass"
was  slang for "chamber pot" (as noted in the OED, based on literary
sources), relying on the slang usage is highly problematic.  I presented a
paper that dealt with this issue at the SHA this year and am working the
material up for publication.  Contact me off-list if you would like a
working version of the paper.
