Why not show the real thing?  We developed an exhibit showing decomposition
of vegetables and bread in real time in a refrigerator and The Exploratorium
used "road kill" in their Traits of Life exhibition to show decomposition of
small animals. Visitors are fascinated by this. Video could supplement or
complement the exhibit.
