Hi Skoshi,
Stacking liquids is a fun activity that you could try. Create (4 or 5) salt and water solutions of different densities, give each one a distinct color, place them in cups on each table (but don't identify their densities), lay some clear straws on the table, invite guests to try to "stack" the liquids so that the colors do not mix. You could discourage peeking at other tables' stacking order by giving each table a unique combination of solutions. It makes for a fun puzzle!
Good luck!
Loran

Subject: Table Top Science Activity for Fund Raiser

Hello,
We are having our annual fund raising luncheon and I am looking for an awesome, fast, safe, easy activity for the guests to do while eating lunch.

Last year we did some pressure experiments. We had Cartesian Divers on the table that people could play with. There were also flasks filled with colored water with a stopper and tubing coming up, making a rudimentary thermometer. We had a race to see who had the hottest table, as people warmed up their hands with friction and passed the flask around the table.
People loved it!

Another successful activity year, was "make a band". We had bags of random materials on the tables and guests had to make different musical instruments. Some of the tables then played tunes.

There is time for folks to do self-guided activities while they are eating lunch and another 5 minutes to do a whole group activity or have people share what they did/made.

Your awesome ideas would be appreciated!
