My favorite ASTC memory was the night at the banquet we spontaneously built
towering exhibits from the place settings on our tables.(Scott Carpenter was
the keynote speaker -- where was that? I think he was amazed!) Then we all
walked around tables in awe of everyone's work. It was, for me, an iconic
moment. We love to work in teams solving problems and taking on
challenges--and we'll make find them!. Exhibit designers are some of the
most fun people in the world to work with because they can make ideas
happen. Give us give us "stuff" and we build things.

My second favorite ASTC moment was a post-conference trip from the Edmondton
conference to the Canadian Rockies. Traveling on a bus with people with deep
knowledge of geology, ecology, earth science, and conservation was
wonderful! Every new place we went someone else had all this great science
information they shared with the entire bus. I still remember the discussion
about fire prevention and old growth forests. Again it was amazing.

People who can make ideas happen and have deep knowledge about science make
this field a joy to work in. I missed you in Hawaii. See you next year!
